DIY Painted Craft Stick Bookmarks Tutorial:

Step 1: Look for extra long craft sticks online or at your favorite craft store. You can also use the medium sized ones. The tiny popsicle sticks are too tiny for this project so look for the wider ones.

Step 2: Tape the sticks on a diagonal and paint the fronts and the backs. You can paint the entire stick, create a pattern, paint only part of the stick, or whatever you'd like. You can see here that the sticks each have a different width of color painted on the diagonal.

Step 3: Use a Crop-A-Dile tool from We R' Memory Keepers to punch holes through the tops of each bookmark. The top can either be on the non-painted side or the painted side.

Here's a look at the finished bookmarks. You can see how long these particular craft sticks when compared with a normal-sized book. They are great as they stick out easily from the top of any book.

Kids can easily paint the craft stickers, place the stickers and help thread the ribbon. They may need a little help punching the holes with the Crop-a-Dile, but it really punches like butter through the thin wood of the craft sticks.
