Mini Heart Pinata Tutorial:
Step 1: Purchase a heart-shaped mini box. These typically come in kraft colors, but I happened to find one in pink at Target. You can go as big as you want with this project. Mine measures about 4" across. The only different will be how much candy do you want in it and the need for more crepe paper than I used.
Step 2: Using fringe scissors cut about 10-15' of fringe from pink crepe paper (you could use any color here you'd like). If you don't have fringe scissors simply cut from the bottom edge of the crepe paper to about half way. Cut every 1/8" to get a nice fringe. You can find fringe scissors at any craft store or HERE on Amazon. Use double-sided tape to place a piece of tape across the heart. You want the first layer of fringe to fully cover the entire bottom point of the heart. Overlap each layer of fringe so about 1/2" of fringe shows below the next layer. You could also use Elmer's Glue for this project. Just add in some drying time between layers.
Step 3: Turn over the bottom of the box and trim off any excess fringe. Place the candy inside the box. Then place the lid on the box and cover the sides using the same technique.
You can hot glue a piece of ribbon to the top for hanging the pinata or leave off this step.
You can adjust your fringe layers by using a wider distance between your fringe or by cutting the crepe paper into small strips. So many options. I used a Silhouette die cut HERE to mount on the front of my pinata. You could also use alphabet stickers.
You can use these just like you would any pinata. Or you can leave out the candy and simply use them as decor. Mix it up with red, light pink, teal, or blank crepe paper for a mix of Valentine pinata styles.
