Want a peek at the flooring we've had installed? Here's a few before and after shots. A more thorough blog post is on its way, but hey I had to share:
BEFORE (previous owners' photos):
AFTER:
Despite a minor setback with the fridge leaking and warping the kitchen floor, we're getting there. After three weeks of having this in my garage, I'm VERY happy to be betting my house back:
Later today we're hoping eliminate this cobalt blue wall in our front room:
Stay tuned!
flooring makes a huge difference! I can't wait to see paint!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. You're always such a HUGE inspiration. :)
DeleteWhata adiference! Soon enough your house will be lokking like your home
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I sure hope so. :)
DeleteIt looks gorgeous. The floors make such a big difference. I have a question for you. We're remodeling our house, too, and wanting to put in wood floors. Because we have two dogs we're getting a hard sale on vinyl plank floors. Did you use wood or vinyl planks? And what do you think of the vinyl plank products? It feels so weird to choose a synthetic product over a wood.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I don't mean to hijack this from Jen, but we are putting in new floors in our home also and have three dogs, a cat and two kids still at home. They told us to go for the engineered or laminate as it holds up better than real hardwood. I had wanted true hardwood floors on my main level, hickory. No go because the dogs would scratch it and because the builder used OSB board vs. plywood for our subfloor. I learned you can't nail hardwood to OSB. So we chose an engineered hickory flintstock floor. I like the look of it. I do prefer the engineered over the laminate. My preference, but I think the engineered looks nicer, more like real hardwood floor. Ours is hand scraped. I have walked through many model homes and have seen variations of it in those. Ours is not yet down, but hopefully soon. We need to finish up other projects before we start another, as we are installing ourselves.
DeleteWe can't do hardwood here where I live. It expands and contracts too much so they suggest laminate. It also holds up better. I have seen the vinyl planks. The only think I would worry about is if the dogs can scratch it. A lot of people in my area are trying the wood-looking tile for their animals. I LOVE the laminate. We had it in our old home and it stood up to a dish washer leak, many spills, and general wear and tear all while looking great. Good luck with your remodel!
DeleteIt looks great!!! I love the new floors. I have a whole bunch of boxes of flooring sitting in my little front office, waiting to be installed. We are going to attempt it ourselves. I hope it looks as nice as yours!!! If I hadn't replaced the carpet in my family room 2 yrs ago, I would be carrying the new floors through to there. I love your kitchen. :) It is the same layout as mine. :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I am going to want to see photos. I love before and after project photos. :) I'm totally excited for you!
DeleteProgress! Finally! So happy for you and your family that things are finally moving along!
ReplyDeleteLove how this is coming along--It looks so nice! Can't wait to see your continued progress. :)
