This week's memory: Children's Parade
This week I'm documenting a memory from a few years past. I wanted to remember that although we had good intentions about entering our children in the children's parade, that it didn't go exactly as we planned. Instead the route was long, the kids were tired, and the parents (meaning me) were frustrated. I also included a photo of my son laughing so I could remember that despite all the irritation we felt, there were some moments of fun.
Here is the layout I created:
This week's techniques: How I Shop My Stash When Creating a Layout
When I am preparing to document a memory, I shop my stash in this order:
1. Find themed items that coordinate with the memory.
2. Gather items that match in color or support the theme but are not thematic.
3. Begin placing items on my layout.
4. Remove or replace items that don't work.
5. Look for additional items from my stash that will make the project special like gems, twine, etc.
6. Put it all together.
Here are the close-up photos of this project:
You can watch the helpful, start-to-finish video tutorial HERE on my Youtube channel or below to learn how I incorporated these techniques into my layout:
Below I've suggested the products you might consider when creating a similar layout (including the products used on this layout). If an item is out of stock, be sure to search for similar items by using words like "July" or "blue" or "red" to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

Your layout turned out amazing! Love the overall arrangement, all the little special details you added and the beautiful color scheme! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great layout Jen. I love watching your process and how you create your pages. Loving your blog and videos lately. Thank you for sharing. Left a comment on video as well. Such a great patriotic-feel layout.
ReplyDeleteLove this layout. I was wondering where I can find good-quality white 12 x 12 cardstock? I have been buying it from stampin up but was hoping to get away from them and do not know an equivalent quality alternative.
