This week's memory: Mother's Day

This Sunday we're celebrating Mother's Day. I wanted to create a non-conventional Mother's Day layout so I decided to journal on little jewelry tags that I cut with my Silhouette machine. This is a creative approach to using your scrapbook supplies for numbered journaling. You can also create a conventional list of items that you (or your Mother) does in your home.

Here is the layout I created:

This week's techniques: Vellum Stamping and Textured Embellishments

I love the subtle look of white ink on vellum. In today's tutorial I use white stamping ink to stamp doilies on vellum. This creates a barely-there background paper for my layout. I also incorporated canvas butterflies, chipboard numbers, and a wooden tag. Bringing texture into your layout gives it depth. (I find myself wanting to touch everything layered on my completed layouts when I thoughtfully incorporate textures).

Here are the close-up photos of this layout:

You can watch the helpful, start-to-finish video tutorial HERE on my Youtube channel or below to learn how I incorporated these techniques into my layout:

Below I've suggested the products you might consider when creating a similar layout (including the products used on this layout). If an item is out of stock, be sure to search for similar items by using words like "canvas" or "wood" or "vellum" to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
