Spellbinders: Robot Gift Box

Boy gift wrap is seriously one of the hardest things to find. It's either baby boy, or made for grandpa. So when it comes to wrapping a gift for a boy that's somewhere in the middle, I like to think outside the box. Or in this case, I like to make my OWN gift box. For this robot gift box, I used several Spellbinders die cuts. What I love about using die cuts is the ability to customize the look of my gift boxes to make it colorful and age appropriate for the birthday boy. Keep reading to learn how this box comes together and to shop the supplies to recreate this gift box.

How to Die Cut a Robot Gift Box:

Step 1: Use the "Giving Makes You Happy" die cut to die cut two half box shapes from blue cardstock.

Step 2: Determine what the sides of the box will be and stamp each side with a cityscape stamp and Versamark ink. (This ink will simply turn into a darker color than the cardstock you are choosing. It's a great starter ink pad.)

Step 3: Assemble the box and place the gift inside.

Step 4: Die cut robot shapes using the "Robots Etched" Die-lites from several colors of cardstock. This die allows you to build your own robots, so you can choose what you want your robot to look like.

To finish up this craft: Add googly eyes to each robot. Decorate each robot with contrasting colors of enamel dots. Then add a stamped and embossed sentiment to each side of the box. White on black looks really dramatic. To create the box top, glue a small spool to the top of the box. Glue a ribbon to the spool and add a large enamel dot to the top of the spool.

Here are some additional photos of this project. Be sure to pin your favorites for inspiration later.
