Great Room Remodel Update

I haven't shared some of our recent photos of our Great Room Update. It's slowly coming together. I've discovered that when it comes to remodeling and updating the house that I need to let it sit for a bit. I need to live in it for a while before I get good feel for what I want in the space. I also like to watch trends to see what I'm ready to embrace and what will fit in my overall vision for the house. And sometimes I need some time for my design ideas to morph and change as we begin the process.

Here's a couple of BEFORE photos of our Great Room:

(during the flooring remodel)

Just a reminder of the things we've done so far:
- removed the tile and brown carpet and put down a dark, brown laminate floor
- changed the paint from a tan, rag rolled color to Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore (LOVE this color so much)
- framed out the niche in the fireplace and planned a new look
- brought in furniture and home decorations in a navy and sea blue
- added texture with sea grass rugs, wicker, and mixed some silver and gold accents

What's next:
- Have the fireplace painted
- Pick a mirror or artwork to hanger over the mantle
- Replace the fan with something more up-to-date
- Find cozier chairs to replace our inexpensive ones I bought four years ago

While I never planned on this remodel taking two years, it's been worth the wait to get it to a point where it fits my style and our budget. I've been able to incorporate both some new items, as well as, bring in items I've collected over our 20+ years of marriage. It makes me happy to see things come together.
