Memories Made #29 Scrapbooking Process Video: A Boy's Life (Centered Design)

Welcome to a new month of "Memories Made" videos! This month I'm focusing on: Layout Design Styles!

Layout designs range from grid, to free form, to centered, and more. We'll chat about a few of them this month. In each video I'll discuss one of the design styles and how I approach it. I'll share a few examples of them I've already created, and then I'll share the products I used to create the layout.

This week's memory: Fall Photo Shoot

On this particular day, I grabbed my kids as soon as they were out of school and we rushed up to the local canyon. I knew a storm was in the weather forecast, and I wanted to capture the leaves before the were all gone. The kids obliged me and this is one of my favorite photos from the day. While I was taking photos of my daughter, my son wandered off. I like that he is deep in "stick finding" mode. It's just so him right now. Here is the layout I created from this memory:

This week's technique: Centered Design

Centered design is probably one of the easiest designs out there. You simply layer everything on your layout in the center of the page. For fun you can move the centered design to the left or to the right or up a bit or down a bit for a completely new look. But everything is basically clustered around the photo(s) in the layout. Here are the close-up photos of this centered design:

Additional Centered Design Samples:

Here is an additional sample of how I've used centered design on my layouts (note that although the page is filled, the photo is in the center of the page):

Below are the suggested products for recreating this layout. Consider items that work together in one large, layered piece. This is a great time to use up leftover or extra embellishments as well. NOTE: Many of the items that I used for today's layout are no longer available at 2Peas. I tried to suggest some other products below but you can also search your personal stash for similar items.
