This was the day . . .
. . . that I checked on my Dad in the hospital after another bout of heart problems.
. . . that I cried to my sister about things in my life that I wish were different.
. . . that I felt disjointed, a little lost, and a lot overwhelmed.
. . . that I prayed over the losses I've already experienced and know will someday come again.
. . . that I took two naps from the exhaustion and stress.
. . . that I took a walk to feel alive and at peace again.
. . . that my little son told me he doesn't want my kisses any more on the cheek because he's too grown up (too bad--he's still going to get them).
. . . that same little son picked wild flowers for me from the path on which we walked.
. . . that I tried to remember that Heavenly Father has a plan for me, my family, my Dad, and that HE loves me and knows what I'm going through.
. . . that I'm trying to remember that life has both ups and downs.
This is to help me remember:

DeleteSo sorry to hear that you are having such a bad day! Prayers and positive thoughts heading your way for your Dad. I know how hard that is. Mine was very ill earlier in the year (after making it through lung cancer eight years ago) but he is doing well again now. I hope the same for you.
ReplyDeleteHelping parents through illness is tough. Hugs to you as well!

ReplyDeleteI have just recently discovered your work and have been learning from you almost daily for here in VA. I was so touched by your post yesterday that I felt a need to comment on your sorrow since I feel like you are a special friend. I feel certain that we share the same faith that Our Heavenly Father has a plan for us and that our Savior has suffered what we suffer today so He can succor us in our darkest hours. Please know that my prayers will be with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet comments!
DeleteSo sorry for the typos in my comments. Let's try an amended version. I am from VA not for VA. Also, my prayers will be with you not us. Should have proof read it before sending. Hope this week will be better for you.
ReplyDeleteDear sweet Jen,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that your life is difficult right now. Unfortunately our parents are aging and it's so hard to see them suffering. Life is so difficult at times, but remember you are never alone, and you have your friends on the internet too, to help you through. Keep reaching out, we are here to catch you before you fall. Take care Jen.
Kim (raeraesma)
Thanks, Kim!
DeleteI was very touched by your post. My parents are quite old and as a family, we've had to deal with the reality of that but it's still hard at times. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeannine!
DeleteBig hug!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteI hope tomorrow is the day that brings you sunshine, peace and happiness.
ReplyDeleteHUGE hugs for you Jen. Sending healing thoughts and prayers for your dad and for you also...
