Cleaning and Redesigning My New Craft Room

Ever since we've moved into this new house, I've been trying to finish up my craft room organization. Having my own scrapbook room has been an incredible blessing, and I'm looking forward to getting it just right.

I posted a picture of the disaster it currently is on Instagram after preparing for both the Craft and Hobby Tradeshow; as well as, prepping for my Craftsy class. Here's a little peek at what I'm dealing with:

But tomorrow I'm having someone come to interview and film me in my office. Eeek! That means I am spending today recovering it as much as possible.

As I've been thinking about rooms that inspire me and how I want to set up this new space, I thought I'd turn to you. What rooms have inspired you? What have you done (or wished you had done) in your own space to make it work for you? Please leave your suggestions in the comments section below. I'm looking for all the help I can get.

In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share how my space looked in my old house:

If you'd like a video tour, you can check it out HERE or below:

Fingers crossed that by the my head hits the pillow tonight that my space is at least cleaned. Then I can tackle the design and final organization of the space sooner rather than later.

  1. My room is in the basement, which means a big lack of natural light from the afternoon on. I wish we would of added in some recessed lighting in the ceiling. I also want to repaint it to a lighter color, then purge it. (But then, I think I need to make the time to get back down in there and actually do something, like scrapbook. LOL)

I am sure whatever you decide to do in your room, it will look fabulous. Your space in your old house was set up so well. I am sure you will get it ready for your interview. Congrats on that, by the way. :)

    1. Thanks, Michelle. I agree. Lighting in this new area has been a challenge. Great idea on painting the area a lighter color too!

  3. I love having designated zones in my space with one for stamping supplies, one for die-cutting and a spot to sit my sewing machine out that doesn't compete with my computer/electronic die-cutter spot. I also love having large oversized files to sort my scraps by color. I put the smaller scraps in a gallon size ziploc bag inside each hanging folder next to the larger scraps that I let just sit there. It has been amazing and I find myself actually using them. Good luck and I can't wait to see your new space! :)

  4. I have to agree with Michelle that lighting is a very high priority. My room is in a space that has no overhead lighting so I have lamps on my work desk. I really need better lighting.

    1. I have two ott-lites for that very reason, Karen. Good lighting makes ALL the difference. :)

  5. Honestly, my room needs some work myself but one of the ones that inspired me the most was your old one! I'm sure that you will make this one beautiful and perfect for you!

  6. Nice! Your craft room is looking really swell. I hope it wasn't much trouble for you, seeing how you have to think of all the things you needed to sort out, as well as all the stuff you needed to discard. I also hope that the cleaning process is comprehensive enough to cover the floors and the air ducts, to make it a really well-rounded operation. Thanks for sharing that, Jen! All the best to you!
