Diary of a Memory Keeper: Episode #3

In this week's episode I discuss how I was "discovered" and got my start in the industry. I always find it fascinating to here how people got started in their job, and I thought you might want to hear about my start.

  1. The first time I submitted my lo was the first time i was published. Then my friend Erin Terrell Clarkson asked if I wanted to come up to her house to be in a photo shoot for a mock scrapbook crop for a big article featured in BHG scrapbook etc. Of course I said yes. It was so fun! Then my most excited was being on the KI Memories design team after winning their color theory contest. I loved getting boxes of their product. It was like Christmas every time. I haven't done much since. I do miss it. ~danni

  3. I'm fairly new to the hobby, about a year, so I haven't been published anywhere. I don't have the computer skills to submit work to companies or magazines, and I'm a little shy. I do comment on some blogs and do follow some manufacturers. This is my first comment here but I watch you weekly on two peas and have seen echo park's blog too. I don't belong to forums, though I do look. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing them. Michelle t

    1. Michelle, I am very shy too but I will say scrapbooking has really helped me to come outta my shell. I got the courage enough to teach a class many years ago at my local sb store and it really forced me out of my comfort zone (talking in front of strangers) and it really helped me and pushed me to try new avenues.

    2. That's awesome. I guess to even comment I am getting there. That's great you were able to teach. I love scrapbooking and I guess to me it's more important than my embarrassment. Haha. Michelle t

  4. Hi Jen! I decided that 2014 would be my year to start submitting my work. So far I've been submitting my work to the 2Peas gallery based on inspirations from you Garden Girls and the mood boards and monthly themes. I've also started my own blog, that while not entirely about scrapbooking, includes some of my pages as well. I love this industry and am enjoying putting my work out there. Thanks for asking us about it!
