August Recap: Things You Might Have Missed

As August comes to a close, I'm astonished at how quickly the month has flown by. Where did the last month of summer go? I wish I could remember each time how quickly the time does pass and make things last a little longer each summer.

I wanted to share a few things with you before August ends, and one of them is the 2Peas Labor Day sale. Here are a few items you might check out this weekend:

Me, Myself, and My Style

Hey guys! Due to this evil cold and the fact that my little man has it now too there will not be a new "Memories Made" video this week. Thanks so much for understanding. Instead I thought I'd share a 2Peas Blog Post from yesterday that features my design style. It's always fun to see how others interpret your style, and I think they nailed it:

Recovery Mode and a Few Project Shares

Every once in a while I get sick. It doesn't happen all the time; but when it does, it knocks me down a bit. This past week I have been fighting a nasty cold. Moms shouldn't get colds. The laundry piles up. The dishes don't get done. The kids' homework suffers. But this cold was the zero energy, lay in bed in between work hours kind of cold. I gauge my wellness by things like "Oh, I don't have a fever today." Or, "I can actually breathe through my nose right now." I'm so over it, but it doesn't quite seem over me. I'm hoping a little Vitamin C and some more rest will help.

Rather than share a "Product Focus" this week, I'm sharing some projects I created for Echo Park Paper that you might not have seen yet.

Featuring the "Sweet Girl" collection.

Featuring the "All About a Boy" collection.

Thankfully I work mostly at home and am working in between resting. I'm VERY grateful to be able to do that so I can get up and work for a few hours, take a nap, and then work the rest of the day. With some more nursing myself back to health, I'm hoping to feel better soon!

Don't Forget to Register for True Scrap 5!

Good-bye Summer, Hello School Year!

It seems like the summer passed by in the blink of an eye. For one last hurrah, we took the kids up to Park City. I caught a cold while there so I basically lounged around, and we watched TV and read books. I think it might have been exactly what we needed before the start of school. On the morning that we left, this was the scene. I'd like to go back up when I'm feeling better and do some more exploring. I love living near such beautiful places.

School started on Thursday for us. Kate starts 11th grade and James 5th grade. She is so excited to be back in school, while his response is a typical boy response, "Meh." I think this will be a great year for the both of them, but I can hardly believe how quickly they've grown.

Are your kids back in school or are you? When does school start in your neck of the woods?

Memories Made #24 Scrapbooking Process Video: Back 2 School

Welcome to this week's "Memories Made" Scrapbooking Process Video. Each week I create a layout start-to-finish and share my process and tips and tricks here on my blog. You can subscribe to my Youtube channel HERE for all of my tutorial videos including this weekly series.

This week's memory: Heading Back to School

Many of us are sending our kids back to school this month. This is a perfect opportunity to document those first day of school memories. I wanted to combine several different school and other non-school themed products to create a layout about son's first day of 4th grade (from last year).

Here is the layout about this memory:

This week's technique: Combination Titles

When designing titles for my layouts, I've found they look far more interesting if I combine different elements. This title includes a die cut number, letter stickers, and a stamped sub-title. It draws your eye straight to the title right away and stands out more than just a simple letter sticker title might. Think of ways you can mix up your titles on your next layout or two.

Here are some close-up views of the layout:
