Good-bye Summer, Hello School Year!

It seems like the summer passed by in the blink of an eye. For one last hurrah, we took the kids up to Park City. I caught a cold while there so I basically lounged around, and we watched TV and read books. I think it might have been exactly what we needed before the start of school. On the morning that we left, this was the scene. I'd like to go back up when I'm feeling better and do some more exploring. I love living near such beautiful places.

School started on Thursday for us. Kate starts 11th grade and James 5th grade. She is so excited to be back in school, while his response is a typical boy response, "Meh." I think this will be a great year for the both of them, but I can hardly believe how quickly they've grown.

Are your kids back in school or are you? When does school start in your neck of the woods?

  1. Oh how they have grown, Jen!!! I hope they have a great year!!
School for us starts the day after Labor Day. I am not ready. I am not ready to hand over my kids to the school. LOL I really don't see my daughter much during the school season due to homework. She spends a lot of time holed up in her room. I am, however, grateful that having really good grades are important to her. She will be a sophomore and my little one - he will be in 1st grade. Still have lots of things planned. Heading out today to the Mall of America. Next week a few days in the Wisconsin Dells and Labor Day at the Minnesota State Fair. DH's bday is Labor Day. A great way to spend the very last day of the summer and with the kids. Keeping fingers crossed the weather stays as nice as it has been.

  2. They both look really grown up. School for us in England only starts in two weeks. My husband and I are both teachers but I am on maternity leave so it won't be back to school for me - yay! x

    1. This is the first year I haven't been nervous. It might be this evil summer cold I'm fighting or the fact that I finally feel like they know what they are doing so I can relax. :)
