Memories Made #9: Together (Journaling Focal Points)

Welcome to this week's  "Memories Made with Jen Gallacher." In this series I pick a memory I want to include in my scrapbooks. Then I'll create the layout start-to-finish all while sharing some tips and tricks for using the papers, embellishments, and products I've chosen.

This week's memory: 20 Years of Marriage

I think 20 years of marriage is a bit of an accomplishment. (Our anniversary is coming up in May.) I don't know about you, but my marriage hasn't always been a bed of roses. It's been a lot of hard work, with lots of very sweet and miraculous moments. It's been about forgiveness, struggles, disagreements, successes, and everything that makes a real marriage just that: REAL! I created a list of some of the things my husband and I have been through in the past 20 years for the journaling block at the top of the page.

Here is the layout I created using this journaling I've described:

This week's technique: Making Journaling the Focal Point of your Layout

Because the journaling on this layout was more important to me than any embellishments or even a photo, I wanted it to stand out. To do this, I created a text box in Photoshop (you can also create a text box in Microsoft Word). I made the box a coral, red color. I changed the text to white (the font is "Channel") and then printed it on photo paper to give it a glossy finish. You could create this same look by writing a large box of journaling, using different colored fonts to print your journaling, or cutting the journaling sentences out of a sheet of cardstock with your Silhouette machine. However you decide to write about your subject, make the journaling SHINE!

Here are the close up photos of this layout:

You can watch the helpful, start-to-finish video tutorial HERE on my Youtube channel or below. Listen for the reasons I selected a certain paper or embellishment. I also talk about why you might reuse the same photos on more than one layout:

Below I've suggested the products you might consider when creating a similar layout (including the products used on this layout). If an item is out of stock, be sure to search for similar items by using words like "tag" or "love" to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
