Tips For Creating Double Page Spreads

Most of the time I create a single page spread. I'm not too concerned about both sides of my album matching, rather I am concentrating on telling the story or recording a memory. But there are times when I want to share a story that takes up two pages (or more to tell). Today I thought I'd share a few ways that you can create a double page spread to help you get your creativity flowing.

Create a grid (and repeat the design):

Link photos together across the spread:

Reserve one side for a big impact photo:

Place the title entirely on one page:

Additional Ideas:
* Span a photo across two pages and trim in the middle.
* Mirror image the same design on both pages.
* Print a photo grid to use as one page and add paper and embellishments.

I'd love to hear how you approach your design process when creating a two page layout. Do you pre-plan or go with the flow? Do you repeat elements or treat each page as its own layout? Share your ideas in the comments section below, as I'd love to hear your ideas.

  1. Great post... love your tips. Well I do pre-plan and it usually takes double the time I work on a single page. I'm a really slow crafter.

  2. thanks for the tips, Jen, because I don't do those things most of the time and I am always looking for new ways to make two pagers work. I tend to try and make at least one strip of paper extend most of the way across the two pages to anchor the page and then I usually try to make the photos line up across the top or bottom so they are linear across the page. I think its because my mom insisted that I always do that with my frames on the wall. LOL

  4. These are fabulous! I always struggle with two pagers and end up alternating blocks of photos/paper/embellies/title/journaling. Love how your two pagers still hold lots of fabulous creativity!!!

Good tips, thanks!! I usually do doubles but they don't necessarily have any rhyme or reason so this will help!
