Product Focus Week 3: Flags

Welcome back to this week's "Product Focus." In these weekly blog posts, I'll share a scrapbooking product I'm particularly drawn to, and then share some ways I've used the product in a project. I'll point out tips and tricks for using the product, share some of my favorite products from that product line, and then I'll open it up for any questions you might have. I'd also love to hear your reviews or uses for the product I focus on each week. This is a chance for you to pull out products you already own and play with them or for you to discover new product you might not have yet tried.

This week I wanted to focus on one of my favorite products: flags. This hot trend started showing up last year, and I've been a big fan ever since. They are cute little decorative accents that take a pennant and stick it on a toothpick, dowel, or pin. Many manufacturers have created them. And you can create your own from washi tape, die cut shapes, etc. So many fun ways to add a flag to your projects.

Here are a few of my favorite flag products (click the photos for links to the products):

Below you will find a gallery of projects that use flags. Hopefully these will give you some new ideas for using flags on your projects.

Idea #1: Create a title cluster with flags.

Idea #2: Use dowels to hold large pennants.

Idea #3: Add a journaling sticker to a toothpick.

I'd like to ask here how you are using flags. Are you creating your own? Do you tuck them behind a photo? Do you use them for journaling strips? Share your completed projects through links in the comments section or by sharing your ideas with the other readers. If you have a question about flags, please post it in the comments section below. I will answer some of them in my next "Product Focus" post, and I may just feature one of your projects in an upcoming post.

In last week's post on "Alpha Stickers," I received the following question from ginny:

I use tons of Thickers but have a problem with them sticking to the page. What's your favorite method to make sure your letter stickers stay where you want?

Answer: If I have a set of stickers that has lost the tackiness on the back, I'll add a glue dot or machine stitch them to the page.

And in the previous post on "Buttons," I received the following question from scrappi:

happy New Year. I love to use buttons to fill in tree shapes. Do you stress over the thickness of buttons? I am always trying to find the "flat" ones.

Answer: The only buttons I have trouble using are the ones with a raised back. All of the buttons I select are fairly flat in nature. But as long as I can tack it to my page either by sewing it in place or with a glue dot, I'm game to try it.
