Create a Birthday Card with a Holiday Stamp Set

I'm all about stretching supplies to last as long as possible. I received these two lovely stamp sets from Laina Lamb, and I couldn't wait to try to create a birthday card with this seemingly holiday stamp set. I also love the option of both stamping an image and then using a specifically designed die cut to cut out the shape. This saves so much fussy cutting time. I love this new concept I'm seeing everywhere.

And here are the coordinating die cuts you can use with these stamps:

Here is the card that I created:

Below you will find the tutorial for creating the card. Notice how I use the die cut shapes in conjunction with the stamps, as well as, use them on their own. You can separate the shapes or leave the entire die set connected. It's up to you. Some I left connected, and some I separated.

Step 1: Cut two pennants from the die cut shape.

Step 2: Stamp the index card stamp onto kraft cardstock and use the die cut shape to cut out the stamped image.

Step 3: Die cut the large pinked circle from yellow cardstock and stamp the pinked circle stamp onto the cut circle.

Step 4: Overlap the two pennants onto the index card. Wrap white twine around the pennants. Then mount the pinked circle die cut onto the center of the overlapped pennants.

Step 5: Use the large pennant die cut to cut a pennant from a green and blue 6x6 paper pad.

Step 6: Mount the pennants on two toothpicks to create a flag for your card.

Step 7: Stamp the "Joy" word onto blue cardstock and mount on the blue flag. Punch a circle of yellow patterned paper for the center of the pinked circle. Stamp the number "6" onto a punched circle of pink cardstock and mount in the center of the pinked circle.

Here's what the card looks like close-up. You can see how by using the non-holiday items from the stamp sets I easily stretched the set to work for a birthday card. See how you can stretch your supplies to work for non-themed projects.
