December Album Preparation

If you're a scrapbooker, then you are likely aware of the international movement stirred up by the ever amazing Ali Edwards called the "December Daily Album." Many years ago, Ali introduced the concept of creating an album which features a daily activity for each of the days in December. Many, many crafters have joined the band wagon each year and created some of the most lovely albums I have ever seen.

Here's an example of one of my favorite December Daily albums I've seen:

This year, I'm going to create my own version of this concept. Due to our busy schedule and my desire to keep things fresh and as stress-free as possible, I'm not worrying about creating a new page each day. Instead I'm going to focus on creating an album of our yearly December traditions. This concept is more free flowing and fits my schedule and philosophy a little bit better.

Starting next week, I'll begin sharing my pages in this album to help inspire you as you create your own December traditions or December Daily album. For today, I'd thought I share a few ideas for albums, papers, embellishments, and such that you might consider as you prepare your own album supplies.

Albums: (I'm using the Jenni Bowlin one I listed first).

Papers: (I'm using a leaf green, traditional red, aqua blue, and kraft cardstock color scheme for mine).

Embellishments: (These are just a few items or embellishment styles/types I'm planning on using or in my own album.)

Die Cut Shapes: (I've downloaded these and plan to cut them from cardstock. These shapes are from the Silhouette store. One of my favorite Silhouette designers is Loni Stevens. She has lovely shapes and beautiful sentiments--see her samples below.)

I'm excited. So far the process has felt creative and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to having an album I think my family will treasure for years.

2Peas Project: Dreaming & Current Trends

Have you noticed the following trends lately: vellum and gold? I have. I'm seeing soft, white and clear items and gold finishes in both home decor and in paper crafting. I wanted to give this new trend a go so I created a layout which features both trends for my latest 2Peas Project:

Here is a close-up of the project:

You can find additional photos of this project HERE at 2Peas.

Do you find it hard to create layouts about yourself? Sometimes I find it excruciating. Finding a photo of myself that I actually like. Journaling about my feelings isn't too hard, as I do adore journaling. But putting myself front and center is definitely difficult for me. It's something I need to do more often.

Below I've suggested a few products for recreating this layout or for similar products you might enjoy that follow these trends.
