2Peas Project: Independence Day!

I'm celebrating Independence Day a little early this year with a special project for 2Peas. I love July here in Utah because we have two special holidays. First we celebrate July 4th with the rest of the nation, and then we celebrate July 24th as our state holiday. We typically spend the day at the local parade, enjoying a picnic, and spending time with family. We thoroughly enjoy the day. I'm already looking forward to the 4th which is just around the corner.

For this layout, I combined several non-themed items to create this page. Whether you have patriotic products already on hand, or just need to pull together some red, white, and blue items you can easily create a layout dedicated to a national or state holiday. Just start shopping your supplies for what you already have on hand, or add a few new pieces to dress up your final project! Here's my layout:

Here's a close-up look at the layout. You can find additional photos of this project HERE on 2Peas!

And below you will find the supply list, as well as, additional suggested supplies for creating this layout! Look for fun combinations of non-themed items with typical themed embellishments. You can find lots of Independence Day/4th of July products HERE at 2Peas. Switch things up! The end result will be so much fun!

Tuesday Tip: Shopping Trends

One of the easiest ways to mix and match products from manufacturers is to "shop" trends. Pick a pattern that is popular on paper such as the super popular hexagon right now. Or look for embellishments that showcase cameras. Search the store or your stash for papers with a wood finish. Then gather all those items together and layer to create a final layout. Here are some ideas of current trends:

Wood Papers:

Camera Papers/Embellishments:

Banner Papers/Embellishments:

Chevron Papers/Embellishments:

Additional trends include Zig Zag products, Indie-styled embellishments, and Tickets. Whether you purchase new items to add to your project, or you simply shop your own supplies to create your project, you will find that when you combine trends that matching comes more easily.

Memory Keeping Monday and Two Winners!!

Last week I released a new Memory Keeping Monday project and video with 2Peas. Each week a few of the Garden Girls and I take turns sharing a project from start-to-finish in a video. Be sure to check out all of the videos HERE on 2Peas!

In June I focused on using basic tools to create a layout. I wanted to take basic tools and create something entirely fresh. To do so, I stamped the entire background with the speech bubble. I used sentiment stamps to stamp inside the bubble. Then I used other basic tools to complete the layout. It's actually a very simple layout, but I wanted to show you how you can pull out tools you already have on hand to make a special layout. Here's the layout that I created for this month:

Here is a close-up of the page, you can find additional photos of this project HERE on 2Peas.

Below you can watch the helpful tutorial video on creating this layout:
