Seasonal Sampler Day #5: Ornaments

Welcome to Day #5 of the "Seasonal Sampler" FREE Blog event. Today I wanted to chat a little about ornaments. Are you one of those crazy people (like me) who feels the need to switch up their holiday decor every so often? I just can't help it! I have a traditional tree for all our homemade, gifted ornaments from my children and friends. It's a mish mash of memories, and I love it. Then in my front room I have a white tree which reminds me of my grandparents' tree when I was growing up that was actually flocked and had the most delicate glass ornaments.

Switching it up is fun! And you can easily do that when you create your own ornaments. Here are a few ideas I've created on my own. I'd love to hear your ideas or see what ornaments you've created over the years:

Paper Ornament for 2 Peas

Birdhouse Ornament created for Cricut Magazine

Stitched & Die Cut Paper Bag Ornament Created for Cricut Magazine

Die Cut Linen Embroidery Hoop Ornaments

Die Cut Felt Stocking Ornaments

Below I wanted to share a few ideas you could use to create your own ornaments. Do you have similar items on hand? Or can you add a few new things to your stash to make something similar.

Challenge: Create an ornament. Upload it to your favorite online gallery or blog. Then link me to the completed project. Please include your email (in code if you prefer) so I can notify you if you win. I'll add your entry into the Grand Prize Drawing for the $25 2Peas Gift Certificate. ONE lucky winner will be selected on November 26th. All entries are due on November 27th to qualify. I can't wait to see what you create!

  1. I have painted lots of those plaster ornaments from Michael's. I have some things that I made from cross stitch as well. I love your samples.

  2. These are all so fun! I can totally picture them all on a fun homespun, woodsy themed Christmas tree. I love that you took scrapbook items and turned them into a meaningful decoration. These would make awesome gifts too--Would be fun to make a tradition of it each year and with the dates added! :)

  3. My kids are much older now, but we've made lots of ornaments over the years. One of my favorites was the reindeer made out of a dog bone and two puzzle pieces painted brown for the antlers. Add some googly eyes and a red nose and you've got rudolph. Another favorite was a simple one we used for grandmother gifts one year. We bought clear glass balls ata craft store and squirted craft paint and a marbling medium inside the ornaments. Roll it around and you have some really beautiful ornaments.
