Day #4: Motivational Messages

I'm a firm believer in rewarding or encouraging good behavior. And to do that I think you have to know what motivates your child. For my teenager it's likely a day out spending time together, or a sleepover with a special friend. For my son, little notes and prizes go a really long way.

This year I plan to share a few little "motivational messages" with him throughout the year to help to encourage and reward his efforts at school. Last year his teacher was very good at praising his good behavior, and we saw a marked improvement in his efforts. (Frankly I wish she could be his teacher every year she was so good at it.)

I thought I'd share a few ideas for these "motivational messages." Here are a few you could recreate:

For many of these items I used digital journaling card kits, and then added text to them before printing. Here's my step-by-step process.

Step 1: Download the kit you'd like to use.

Step 2: Open the card in Photoshop.

Step 3: Add text to the card (in a new layer).

Step 4: Print out the card and attach it the "gift."

Below you will find some additional "digital" cards you can use. If you don't use a program like Photoshop, then simply print them out using your print wizard for images/photos and then hand write a message. I've also included some traditional "journaling cards" in case you'd rather use traditional paper crafting supplies for these motivational messages.
