Are You Loving Life?

I think we all go through rough patches. Times when life bombards us with things until we feel a little worked over and exhausted. I've felt a little like that lately. It's not even that lots of bad things have been happening in our life. Actually we are VERY blessed. But sometimes too much of anything is just that--too much!

Sunday I hit a wall. I felt inadequate, unsure, sad, and so on. It's not an uncommon feeling. We all get blue or down sometimes. But what I don't like about feeling that way is that it robs me a little of time I could spend with my kids. When I'm not 100 percent myself, then I'm less patient, less willing, and less involved. I recognize that I can't be all things to all people all of the time, but that doesn't mean I don't feel the need to try. Is that a woman thing? That need to make things better for everyone else all while neglecting ourselves? I don't know, but the night ended with a few tears as I reviewed the week's events. I'm trying to recognize that I'm doing my best. I make mistakes ALL the time. I realize I'm not perfect. But it's still difficult not to be hard on myself when things don't go the way I planned.

I'm learning.

This week I had a layout go live at 2Peas, which is I suppose ironic. See the title? Yes. I suppose that I haven't been loving life enough. Because I didn't feel the love this week. At least the love I need to have for myself. I'm taking the weekend off to celebrate Thanksgiving. I think some time with the family will help me heal a little.

If you'd like to see additional photos of this layout you can visit my 2Peas gallery here.

  2. Beautiful layout and so on target Jen. I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to be everything to everyone. I try to tell myself: take care of yourself first and then you'll have time for others.

  4. Jen, be kind to yourself! Our Heavanly Father accepts us the way we are when we do our best, but we don´t have to kill ourselves to try to be better than that. As the scriptures say, what I say I say to all...women be kind to your selves!!

  6. Hi Jen! I really think it's a female thing. Rough patches, I think it's been lingering in our house for the last few months, then those guilt feeling fester. But we just gotta to keep going, for our kids. That's what I say anyhow. Like you said, when we're not 100%, I think other people get the short end of the stick. But I visit blogs, especially yours and I smile. :)

Keep up with the great work you are doing, your awesome work, your courage and determination, you are a strong woman, and I admire you!

A little request...more videos please! hehe.

  7. Golly Jen. I had this conversation last week with a friend. Both of us felt the same way, both of us extremely blessed in life but unable to put our finger on what was driving our feelings. She ended up decorating her house for Christmas already. I took my Christmas things down from the attic. They have yet to be put up. Life keeps me functioning but in the quiet times there is unexplained sadness. I know where you are coming from. If I could hug you and make it better, I would :-). I hope it lifts for you. It's certainly NOT a fun place to be. Hugs.

  8. Sorry you are feeling that way. I've been feeling that way too. I think we all have those patches of self doubt and want to be more for everyone, to do more. I watched a show on TV last night on being positive and it really changed how I feel today. I realized how blessed I truly am and that I shouldn't let the seeds of negativity into my heart - because then the good things can't bloom! You are amazing, inspirational, and so talented! Take time for yourself if need be. You deserve it! As moms, we do so much for others, it becomes a habit and we don't think about ourselves. I totally understand!
