Lost in My Own Little World

That's how I feel sometimes--keeping my head down pushing through things only to look up and realize that I've been traveling down some road for a while and can't quite remember where I was headed (oh, and I've done that literally sometimes too). I guess we all have busy lives, and that's ok.

My kids head back to school in less than two weeks. I haven't loved this summer as I feel like I haven't spent the time with them that I could/should. Is that mama guilt or real, deserved guilt? Who knows. But I'm promising myself that next summer we'll have a plan in place first so it doesn't escape me like it did this year. Still the kids have had lots of fun with friends, and camping, and cousins so it really isn't as bad as I've built it up to be inside my head. They always seem to know how to have a good time.

And speaking of having a good time, I have a layout that I wanted to share with you today that is featured on the Northridge Publishing "Create" blog. For today's "Work It Out Wednesday" I created a banner out of stamped people. I wanted to show that you can follow the hot banner trend but still make it your own. You can check out all the step-out photos and instructions here:

So when do your kids head back to school? I'm not alone in being sad about it am I?

  1. This is such a gorgeous layout. I love how you used small pics to and left the patterned paper free of embellishments on the bottom...brilliant!

  2. No, you're not alone! But, I actually homeschool my kids... I would be so sad if they were away from me in school. I get called 'crazy' a lot :)

  3. Oh Jen, I have that same guilt you do. OUr summer is almost gone and it completely got away. I am sad to send my middle into her last year of middle school and my youngest to preschool. This is my last year with him before I lose him to school.. being gone 9 hours/5 days/wk. (bussing issues here). I love having my kids home in the summer. I love that they are totally mine, not spending their time home doing tons homework. School starts on the 1st of Sept. Cute page too, btw. I am going back and playing along with your stretch your sketch at 2peas. :)

  5. Super cute! Love your people banner! I usually feel that too, but this year we took 2 vacations and were gone most of July. Now we are doing cheerleading practice 3 nights a week. I'm really ready for them to go back to school and I can keep my house clean for more than an hour and have some quiet time! lol Our school starts Sept 7th.

  8. my kids start school in a week from tomorrow! we go back early here in the south...I am a little sad because my son is starting high school and my daughter starts jr. high, reminds me that they are growing so fast, it's crazy. I do like the beginning of a new school year though then it gives me time to be with my little one alone, and he loves that :)
