Caught On Film

So I'm taking the plunge. I signed up for Karen Russell's photography class. I've long been an admirer of her and her photography so I'm auditing her March through June class. My one goal: getting out of automatic!! That would be so awesome. I keep telling myself, "You're capable of learning photography. Really. You are." I'm not sure I'm any better at convincing myself of that than I am of convincing my children that vegetables are good for you. Not that photography is as bad as vegetables. :)

"I think I can!"--remember--FEARLESS!!!

I thought I'd share with you a layout or two that I created for Little Yellow Bicycle. The first is about how my son has become an "emotional bandaid" for our grief over losing Joseph. All my children have a lovely sensitivity and know how to love us through the tough times. I'm very grateful for them. You can see a detail shot of the layout and see the supplies here:

Supplies:
* Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View, Bazzill
* Brown flower paper from the Family Paper Tablet by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Plaid/Green Tiny Stripe "Lucky Me" pattern paper by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Lucky Me Chipboard Embellishment Stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Lucky Me Epoxy Chipboard Buttons by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Lucky Me Dimensional Stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Lucky Me Fresh Verse Stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Silhouette Digital Die Cutting Machine
* Ali Edwards Everyday Words Words We Love Stamps by Technique Tuesday
* Chestnut Embossing Powder by American Crafts
* Spiral punch by Stampin' Up
* scalloped_12X12_frame_C0090913181220_18443

And this second project, I wanted to document my feelings about wanting to get pregnant again after my miscarriage a little over a year ago. It's not something I've been ready to talk about until recently, and I now I want to make sure this part of my life is included in my life story. So I used the Pregnancy Tablet from Little Yellow Bicycle, and the one photo I have of my pregnancy to create this layout. You can see a detail shot and the product here at 2Peas.

Supplies:
* Cardstock: Provo Craft, Bazzill
* Pregnancy Tablet by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Lucky Me Canvas Stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle
* Ali Edwards Everyday Words Words We Love Stamp by Technique Tuesday
* Pink and yellow mini brads by Karen Foster
* Mustard Embossing Powder by American Crafts
* Leaf Embossing Powder by American Crafts
* Blue Skies Buttons by American Crafts
* flower_C0146 shape by Silhouette (I deleted the flower center and leaves to create a scallop circle shape)

I love that die cut flower, and it's making me really hungry for spring since it is raining/showing outside right now. :( I hate gloomy, overcast days. Bring on the sunshine!! :)

  1. You will LOVE KR's class... I'm in the one that is just finishing next week (boo!) and it is a great great class! She presents things in a way that is easy to understand (even for my little pea-brain!) and she will answer ALL of your questions (many times over, if necessary!) with a thoroughness that I've never come across before. I super love her and her class!! Can't wait to see your photos improve!!

  2. awe, I'm so sorry about your loss. That's hard. That LO is beautiful!
    I signed up for the auditing class but the one from June-August. I figured that summer would be easier to take pics. Good luck with the class. I'm so excited about it!
